See every redirect on the way, with its status code and timing, the response headers of each step and a grade for the security headers of the final page.

About the Redirect & HTTP Header Checker
A link can pass through several redirects before it reaches a page, and each one costs time and can lose signals for search engines. Enter a URL and the checker follows it hop by hop, the way a browser does, showing each status code, where it points and how long it took, with the response headers of every step. It also grades the security headers of the page where the chain ends.
How to use the Redirect & HTTP Header Checker
-
Enter the URL
Paste the address you want to follow, such as an old page, a short link or the http:// version of your site. https:// is added if you leave the scheme out.
-
Choose who asks
Check as a desktop browser, a phone or Googlebot: some sites redirect each of them differently, for example phones to a mobile site.
-
Read the chain and fix it
Each step shows its status code and timing; open it to see its headers. The notes flag loops, long chains and temporary redirects, and the security panel lists the headers worth adding.
When to use it
After a site migration
Check that old URLs reach the new ones in a single 301, without chains, loops or 404s that waste crawl budget and lose rankings.
Auditing short and tracking links
See where a short link or an ad tracking URL really ends, and how many hops and milliseconds it adds before the visit lands.
Hardening a site
Confirm that HTTP goes to HTTPS and that the final page sends HSTS, a Content-Security-Policy and the other security headers.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a 301 and a 302 redirect?
A 301 (or 308) says the page has moved for good, so search engines index the new URL and pass its signals there. A 302 (or 307) says the move is temporary, so the old URL stays indexed. Use a temporary redirect only when the original address will come back.
How many redirects are too many?
One is normal, for example from http:// to https://. Each extra hop adds a network round trip, and Googlebot stops following after 10. Point every old URL straight to its final destination.
Why does the result change with Googlebot or a phone?
Some servers send different redirects depending on the user agent, such as phones to a separate mobile site or bots to a simpler version. Comparing them shows whether everyone ends on the same page.
What does the security headers grade measure?
It checks six response headers of the final page: Strict-Transport-Security, Content-Security-Policy, X-Frame-Options (or CSP frame-ancestors), X-Content-Type-Options, Referrer-Policy and Permissions-Policy. Each present header adds to the grade, from A to F.
Is the URL I check stored?
No. Tooly's server follows the redirects, returns the result and keeps nothing; analytics record only whether the check worked and how many hops it had, never the address.
